Dear Friends,
Homage to a man of greatness ....

Three of us from Chennai , Sri Arunachalam, Sri V R Krishnan and I were in Bengaluru yesterday, and along with Sri O P Vasisht who had come from Delhi, called on the Rajagopalan Family.
It was quite a revelation to know from Sri Balki, his son, that his dad had carried on gamely, over the last 10 years , with a weak heart, functioning only to 25% of its capacity. I had to mention later, in the Condolence Meeting, that having known him for 50 years when alive, I seem to discover an unknown facet of the man now in his Death! Yes, he had been doing all his work for the Federation and his own Legal practice, with this knife-edge condition of his health! Sri Balki, his famous Film world son,  told us that, though he had a nagging prostate cancer going along , his Doctors had mentioned that his end will not be due to the Cancer, but due to his Heart Condition, and they had not given him more than 2 years of life, at that time, 10 years ago.
What a selfless person he was, walking around doing his normal duties, as if he was perfect in health, and not talking about it to any of us ! He perhaps never wanted to unburden his problems on any of us, or never wanted people to sympathize with him! What a Noble person, and how we come to know of this tremendous facet of the man, only in his Death!  Sri Balki mentioned that continuing to do work, to him , was like Meditation or Yoga for others, and he would get re-charged doing his duties as usual.
A number of people went up the stage to offer their tributes to a man who had been a great Benefactor to all of us, without expectations of Returns. Sri O.P.Vasisht, EC Member  from Delhi,  Sri P V Subramanian, former Vice President of Chennai Association, Sri M. Arunachalam, a close aide of the Man through all our Legal issues, Sri V R Krishnan , Secretary , Chennai Assn, Sri T K S Narayanan ,President,  Sri K. S. Raghunath, Vice-President, and Sri M S Rao of Bengaluru Assn were some of the other speakers.
Written Messages condoling the passing away of this Noble person, received from different quarters, were also read out, including  the former General Secretary Shri G.N.Sridharan, Shri S.K Awasthi from Lucknow, Shri S. K. Majumdar, Kolkota.
Hats off to the self-effacing leaders of the Bengaluru Assn., for their devoted services through the day from the time we landed in Bengaluru in the morning, to the time of our departure, in the late hours in the evening. I will need to mention names of some of these dedicated soldiers in the cause, viz., Sri T K Ravindran, Sri K S Raghunath, Sri T K Bhat, Sri Hegde and B R Subramanian. They were heavy in feelings, about a man, who had been a Pillar of strength for the Assn, both financially and on other counts.
Incidentally, the Draft of the Writ Appeal to be Filed in the Kerala HC on 18th , against the single judge verdict of 7-8-2019, on the 92-93 Retirees' Case, has been finalized. It was Sri Rajagopalan, who had talked to our Advocate over phone just days ago, on how the Focus of the Appeal should be, and when the Draft did arrive finally, he was not there to see it!
So, that's it for now, and with Fraternal Greetings to all!
D.Krishnan.
General Secretary

Appeal by Sridharan G.N 6:02 PM (13 minutes ago) FAITH AND PRAYER  deserve to be considered as one of the weapons to fight the virus menace. It is  not without purpose that even the Westerners believe in the old dictum - 'many things are wrought by prayers'. Gandhiji said that the tenets of Hindu religion and faith has universal application .Our ancient texts do prescribe prayers as a panacea for all human ailments. For instance in Mahabharata - vide Dwadasa nama pancharam an appendix to Vishnu Sahasranamam - a sloka in the words of Bishma pitamah runs as follows: "Achyutha,Anantha,Govinda namocharana beshajath nasyanti sakala rohath ,Satyam satyam vadhamyaham" That is, he swears that uttering the various names of the Lord will cure a person  of  ALL his diseases. In another sloka it is said that even water from holy Ganga can be good enough a medicine (oushadam) if only we believe the Lord (sriman Narayana) as the doctor.(vaidy
