  Dr P S Pritam passed away today. at Jullundur .Very  sad that three senior retired officers have left for heavenly abode in a week. Some weeks ago while talking to Sri.PVS he mentioned about Dr.Pritam having health problem and being under treatment. Sorry to know that he could not recover. My condolences to the bereaved family. He will be completing 88 in October 20. It appears he  was ailing for the past some days and the death is reported to have taken place yesterday morning. I tried contacting his home number but it was not going through.   H

S hri KP Narasimhan, former chairman of LIC passed away yesterday (26/8) morning. \ He was 89 and was reportedly unwell for about ten days.   The news of his demise came to me as a shock because of my strong personal association with him and his family circles. KPN was such a soft spoken person that any one conversing with him would wonder whether he was speaking or murmuring! He hailed from a family of erudite people and his father was an eminent professor,historian and Indologist at Tiruvananthapuram.A person of high intellectual order KPN was among the few in India to have become a fellow of the Institute of Actuaries at a very young age. After stepping down he was doing the hon.work of looking after the institute's matters in India. During an usual chit-chat with one old of friend of the Editor,  the latter was told that THERE ARE INDEED FIVE CLASSES OF EMPLOYEES IN LIC OF INDIA AND THIS HAS BEEN CLEARLY STATED IN 2J OF OUR PENSION RULES.  HE CONTENDS THAT APART FROM CLASS 1 , II, III AND IV , PENSIONERS ARE ALSO COME UNDER THE CATEGORY OF THE TERM ËMPLOYEE' " AS DEFINED UNDER THE ABOVE RULE 2J. WHILE THE SALARY STRUCTURE OF CLASSSES 1 TO IV ARE GETTING REVISED, CLASS V THAT IS PENSIONERS IS NEGLECTED.  THIS IS CLEAR DISCRIMINATION.  HE SAID, HE HAS RAISED THIS POINT AND WANTED THE APPELLANTS IN OUR SC CASE TO INCLUDE THIS AS A FORCEFUL PLEA .  HIS POSITION WAS ACCEPTED BY THE ALL INDIA CONVENTION HELD AT BHOPAL , HE SAYS. The lowest FAMILY PENSION in history is of LIC Pensioners with a Restrictive & Truncated APPENDIX  V of Pension Rules 1995       LIC BOARD has approved same FP Formula as in Govt & RBI already,  30 % of BASIC PAY.Our tentative calculations show an optimistic ,decent rise in FAMILY Pension,who went uncared,unwept & unsung.   Every opportunity to CO,ZO,RMOS, we dinned into their ears as we have to feed them !! Govt final Notification is awaited. BOARD MEETING No:590: OCTOBER,2019        Those who retire during 10 month period of earlier Wage agreement, with all best efforts,genuine attempts were eluding but ATLAST, LIC BOARD approved & sent to Govt  that Last drawn Basic Pay  or Average of Last 10 months Basic Pay,whichever is HIGHER or BENEFICIAL will be granted.  YET another FEATHER in AIRIEF CAP .Anamolies of Seniors getting less than Juniors will disappear   .Govt final Notification is awaited.
