MASI SHRI S.MASILAMANI IS NO MORE. G N SRIDHARAN CONDOLES .

It is with a deep sense of sorrow that I learnt just now about the demise of Shri S Masilamani at the Kilpauk Hospital chennai this afternoon (17/2).He was 88.

Shri 'Masi' as he was popularly known to every one in LIC was more than a mere friend or a former colleague to me. He was my partner in the law firm of 'Sridhar&Masi' and we were practicing together as advocates in the High court of Madras for nearly three decades after our retirement from LIC.

A person of varied interests in the fields of Law, Sports and public affairs,he was a voracious reader. Being a bachelor ,books were his only companions in his life.He was a rationalist in thoughts and I an absolute believer but nothing could come in the way of a genuine friendship between us which bound us both while in service and in retirement. A person of impeccable character he was an eminent 'sports administrator' in LIC having successfully conducted several athletic meets annually at several places in the country for LIC.

He was a practical person who used to say that earlier we relieve the pensioners of litigation in regard to their problems it would be better.

I have no words to express my personal sense of loss over his demise.May his soul rest in peace!!

D.Krishnan sends his message of condolence.

Sri GNS, You first gave the news about MPS, and now sri Masi. He was a close friend to me too. We came in contact through the field of sports. He was a distinguished Sports Promotion Board member in LIC and a thorough gentleman befitting the field of sports he represented. It's a huge loss to all who knew him.
Who was there by his side to take care of his final rites etc? Did he have relatives? Did he own a house? I would like to know some of these details.
As for MPS , I knew him as a tireless crusader for the cause of pensioners. The first time I met him was on 2nd Feb in the combined meeting of the Associations. He did appear a bit weak though his spirits were high.
D.Krishnan.

Appeal by Sridharan G.N 6:02 PM (13 minutes ago) FAITH AND PRAYER  deserve to be considered as one of the weapons to fight the virus menace. It is  not without purpose that even the Westerners believe in the old dictum - 'many things are wrought by prayers'. Gandhiji said that the tenets of Hindu religion and faith has universal application .Our ancient texts do prescribe prayers as a panacea for all human ailments. For instance in Mahabharata - vide Dwadasa nama pancharam an appendix to Vishnu Sahasranamam - a sloka in the words of Bishma pitamah runs as follows: "Achyutha,Anantha,Govinda namocharana beshajath nasyanti sakala rohath ,Satyam satyam vadhamyaham" That is, he swears that uttering the various names of the Lord will cure a person  of  ALL his diseases. In another sloka it is said that even water from holy Ganga can be good enough a medicine (oushadam) if only we believe the Lord (sriman Narayana) as the doctor.(vaidy
