Friends,
Reg:
What is happening in RBI
Here
is some real good news for us, the LIC Pensioners, who have been
fighting for Pension Revision. This one has happened in RBI, where of
course they have some history of Pension- revision having been given
upto the 1997 stage wage revision, of in-service employees. The
pensioners went to Court when Govt. wanted to withdraw what had been
given. Mumbai HC favoured the Pensioners, upto what had already been
given to them, and asked the Govt. to keep it where it was. The Govt.
went to SC, and SC too toed the line of Mumbai HC.
Now
this is a victory for them, quite beyond just sustaining the
1997-stage revision, which had been extended to them already, and
later threatened to be withdrawn . The Govt. Circular letter to
RBI has now covered the later Wage Revision stages too, for
Pensioners, as you can see from the Copy reproduced here.( For LIC
Pensioners, if this Revision were to be extended, the compensation
levels should be higher because ours will have to cover 4 stages from
1997 onwards) :
It
may be relevant for me now to indicate, that we are already in the
process of approaching the Central Govt. with a specially prepared
Note to the PM. We hope that this attempt through sources close to
the PMO, will yield some concrete results, in the near future. I do
not, however, want that these should raise undue expectations on the
part of our members, and suffer a crash later, if not much were to
turn out. In the context of what has now happened to RBI Pensioners,
I feel the
right time has come for us too.
