Friends,
At last we have some substantive news to convey from the Supreme Court Proceedings on our Case today. We could possibly have given more intricate details of the Proceedings, had any of the Legal Committee members been present in the Court today, and reported directly. However Sri O P Vasisht one of our activists in Delhi, who was present in the Court, has sent in some brief messages. Sri Garg our Advocate on record, also had a talk with Sri G N Sridharan , on the basis of which he has sent us a message which is reproduced here :
The case was at last taken up today.
Our counsels were present. The bench was particular to know how much time LIC would require for completion of payment to pensioners as per Rule 3A and reportedly insisted on a time frame. LIC counsel said six weeks and the court was not agreeable. The matter stands posted to Monday to facilitate LIC counsel to get instructions
The trend is indeed favourable but the court's overall approach on all issues will be known after detailed arguments on 30th. One point however is clear viz. 100 percent neutralisation on DR must be uniform for all pensioners. According to the report from shri OP Vasisth, who was present in court, our sr. counsel spoke on need for up-gradation and the court’s reaction was not negative.
Let us hope for the best
-GN Sridharan
It is also reliably learnt that our Sr Counsel presented our case for up-gradation in an effective manner. He seems to have discovered a method all his own, which is essentially based on a principle indicated in the Delhi HC judgment itself. We will need to wait and watch for further progress on Monday.
D. Krishnan (Gen. Secretary),
