sudden demise of shri A S Desikan (of Pallavaram) at his son’s residence in Ram Nagar, Nanganallur,

Friends,                                                                      30-03-2020
Even as all of us are  forced to stay indoors due to the corona scare not knowing when we can get back to our normal active schedule, the flow of some sad news or the other does not seem to give itself a break. The latest sad news we have had is the sudden demise of shri A S Desikan (of Pallavaram)  at his son’s residence in Ram Nagar, Nanganallur, yesterday morning (29/3/20), due to heart attack.

Shri Desikan was known for his calm and genial temperament and was a great devotee of Lord Varadaraja of Kancheepuram.  As one of our members from the days of formation of the Association he was highly dedicated to our causes. I recall the number of occasions when shri Desikan would call on me personally to hand over his donation cheques and conveying his good wishes every time for the success of the association in all its efforts.

His end seems to have come about in natural circumstances following not a period of long illness.
We convey our heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family, of three sons and a daughter.
May his soul rest in peace.-
GN Sridharan

Appeal by Sridharan G.N 6:02 PM (13 minutes ago) FAITH AND PRAYER  deserve to be considered as one of the weapons to fight the virus menace. It is  not without purpose that even the Westerners believe in the old dictum - 'many things are wrought by prayers'. Gandhiji said that the tenets of Hindu religion and faith has universal application .Our ancient texts do prescribe prayers as a panacea for all human ailments. For instance in Mahabharata - vide Dwadasa nama pancharam an appendix to Vishnu Sahasranamam - a sloka in the words of Bishma pitamah runs as follows: "Achyutha,Anantha,Govinda namocharana beshajath nasyanti sakala rohath ,Satyam satyam vadhamyaham" That is, he swears that uttering the various names of the Lord will cure a person  of  ALL his diseases. In another sloka it is said that even water from holy Ganga can be good enough a medicine (oushadam) if only we believe the Lord (sriman Narayana) as the doctor.(vaidy
