TRIBUTE TO SRI G.KRISHNAMURTHY,LIC FORMER CHAIRMAN
1)Sri G.Krishnamurthy, former LIC Chairman is no more. It is a great shock to all insurance fraternity.As the Top Management Apex Head,Chairman has a pivotal role. He is in fact a mirror to all the activities & operations of LIC in India as well as abroad.Chairman’s Messages are a catalyst breathing fresh air & thinking into the lives of entire administrative & marketing force .His utterances send a chord to society & nation on many parameters .
2)I spoke to his eldest son,Sri K.Mohanasundaram,SBM, CB 14,Chennai. He told me last 4 months, he was not keeping well, on diagnosis, it was detected as liver cancer.When it was thought he was responding,2nd time pain excruciating, it has spread to back,last 1 week loss of appetite aggravated, muscle hardened & he breathed his last,fully conscious.Mobile No 094442 06388.Out of 3 sons, he is eldest, 2nd ia at Mumbai, last son in UK
3)Sri GK was Zonal Manager, SCZ. He was a man of few words.He was a stickler for discipline & punctuality.He was an authority in presenting any topic of any Department ,replete with data & statistics ,macro & micro.He revelled in minutely going through Office Note,& specially demanded complete statistics past, present & ensure future projections are accurate. He was a believer in ensuring KRA,Key Result Areas & MIS, Management Information System occupy a high pedestal for future trends.His acumen in a minute dissection on Notes for fraud & vigilance cases is to be seen to be believed.Yet, in some se3lect cases, if I felt the sanction of multiple decrements was harsh, after working out in my Dept P & IR ,as I was RM P& IR,full implications of the decision, I used to take up with CVO,CO, clarify the lifelong loss to the charged employee,send a Note to CO with full facts & comparative picture of punishment, & later on receipt of CO approval, ZMs final order.
4)Sri GK was a postgraduate in Tamil, a fine speaker,concentrates on subject matter ,no deviation, & inspires people to put in their best to help policyholders & marketing force,& was insistent on DOs & BOs getting Excellent Ratings & he wont leave any DO or BO getting less than Very Good without a caution or a bit of his mind.His presiding over of ZMC Meetings ,SCZ with S/Sri CRVijayaraghavan & Dayal Sharan(now no more) on his left & RBKishore,myself on his right,with full attendance of Officers,with copious notes & directions for the ensuing months was methodical & made every Executive alert. All the 4 of us were from 2nd Batch of Direct Recruits.
5)Sri GK attended gala functions & celebrations organized on a grand scale by late Sri KChandrasekaran, redoubtable achiever & frontranking Development Officer who created many Agent Gems of MDRT etc & running Academy of Insce Marketing for many years,inviting almost all Chairman to preside,alongwith many luminaries & functionaries adorn our humble residence as a memorable, wonderful reflection of past with shine & lustre, in laminated sheet ,as Albums wither away .
6)It is our good fortune that a long list of exemplary Chairman guided the destiny of this gigantic financial services institution,zealously guarding its vital resources & interests & always in the limelight of the nation earning accolades from PM,FM & others with encomiums as an Emblem of Solvency & Stability
It is a moment of grief to learn he passed away yesterday night.He has left footprints in the sands of time. We pray to the Almighty to give strength & fortitude to the bereaved family,May his soul rest in peace.
