Friends,
Our
Attempts on some Fronts ....
I
thought I should keep all of you informed of some attempts we
have been making from here on different matters pertaining to the
Retirees.
One
was a letter to Sri Raj Kumar, General Secretary of the in-service
Class I Federation, suggesting to him to put out major Demands on
their Charter, and actively take it up in the process of
Negotiations with the Management. The main point is, there is a 5
yearly process that is set in motion for them, which we as
Pensioners do not have. Therefore it would be quite appropriate to
include our matters in their list. The letter I sent, is reproduced
here .
The
other was a brief letter to the ED (P) requesting him to consider
releasing our Pensions this month ahead of Diwali as a
special gesture. That short letter too is reproduced here.
The
third one relates to Resignee Officers who have put in the
qualifying 20 year Service, before resigning, and who , by the
rules framed for eligibility for the second option for Pension, do
not currently become eligible to be offered the Pension Option,
because they have not satisfied the second condition , that of
completing age 55 at the time they resigned from the services of
LIC. This of course is a request to LIC, for being liberal , in the
spirit of the liberal gesture, of LIC, in offering the second
option. Two separate communications were addressed to the EDs
Personnel and OS. The one addressed to ED (OS) is reproduced here,
which carries the one sent to ED (P).
Today,
I was lucky to be able to talk to Sri Bali, our President. He said
at the outset, he is not allowed any long talk over phone. He spoke
very clearly, though in somewhat lower tones, and mentioned to me
that he had seen good improvement from the time of the Surgery 2
weeks back. He said he was able to even stand with some support.
His therapy would continue and he hopes to get back to good health
gradually. He sounded positive and cheerful. He thanked all the
friends who have been passing on their good wishes for his safe
recovery.
I
would be sending out the Formal Notice for the General Council
Meeting on the 8th of Dec At Kolkata, in a few days from now, as
per the Bye Laws. I am hoping that, by then, we would have known
about the results of the Bank Employees' Negotiations with
IBA. I understand from some senior sources from among the Bank
Officers, that, as of now, there is hope of the Pensioners matters
also being included in the Settlement. We will need to wait and
see. With greetings to all
D.Krishnan General
Secretary

LETTER ADDRESSED TO GEN.SECY. FEDERATION OF CLASS 1 OFFICERS' ASSOCIATIONS.
Dear Sri
Raj Kumar,
I
would earnestly request that you include our prime demands of Pension
Revision, Family Pension Increase and 5 yearly increases for 80 plus
retirees as part of your Demands while you Negotiate with the LIC
Management.
In your
case ,ie., those Associations of in-service employees, the Management
invites you for sharing of thoughts reg the Revision that falls due
every 5 years. In our case, ie., of those Retired, there is no such
practice of being called for discussions. Hence we strongly feel ,
your Federation should make it as part of your own Charter of
Demands. The justification is that, all of you will form part of this
group tomorrow and you need to take care of your future interests now
itself.
As far
as Bank Negotiations are concerned, it appears to me, that , though
they have made the Pensioners' Demands as part of their Charter,
coming to the crunch situation of clinching the maximum in the final
stages, they might compromise on the Pensioners' demands of Revision
in Pensions for the extra benefit for their in-service employees.
For
the Banks, since Recruitments have been on, on a regular basis, the
numbers of those who fall under the pension category might be
somewhat less compared to those newer recruits who will only be under
the NPS. So, such a compromise might appear advised even from the
number game point of view. But in the case of LIC , since there have
been no recruitments in the past several years, most of the employees
might still be covered by the Pension scheme, and therefore this
becomes a major issue even for those LIC Officers now in service.
Kindly therefore do include our Revision matter as an integral part
of your Charter while negotiating with the Management of LIC. Thanks
D.Krishnan.
