Greetings for Diwali ...
Dear Friends,
It gives me great pleasure to Greet all of you on the occasion of Diwali, which is a Festival of lights. The Season will light up the skies as usual. But what happens, to some figurative Light, on our matters? That of course is the big question mark.
The Bank Negotiations with IBA were almost galloping at some stage. But, of late, things have gone into a knotty situation with no immediate promise of a finality being arrived at. With Banks announcing Strike, it is apparent they want to force the issues dear to them.  While they may be right in trying to get at what level of improvement they may be aspiring for, the other side, granting the favours, is caught up with issues, of not all Banks being at the same level, in terms of their working Results. That puts a strain on the Govt. agreeing to uniform levels of Benefits when the Results have not been uniform. That apart, the Govt’s notification declaring banking industry as essential services and not permitting their strike for 6 months from 21st Oct 2019, can create displeasure among their unions.
This is the stalemate that we now see in the Bank scenario.
Caught up in all this , somewhere , are the matters pertaining to Retirees. We have been awaiting the benefits that the Banks may be able to wrest, for the Retirees, through their package of  goodies. But since the whole bundle lies tangled, we are unable to guess which way the winds would blow.
Meanwhile there are some of our associate groups who seem to be in a bit of hurry to push the Court into wakefulness.  There has been a meeting in Delhi recently of the Legal Committee of the AIRIEF, which seems to be wanting to move towards making, what is known in Court lingo, as a 'Mention'. That done, there is a possibility of our Case being posted to some near- future date.
Meanwhile I thought I should send in a message to the LIC Chairman, reminding him, of his commitments, to some of our matters, discussed on the 24th of July in the CO.
I am reproducing here the message I sent him by Whatsapp just this morning:

DIWALI 2019 IMAGES க்கான பட முடிவு"Sri Kumar, First of all, Happy Deepavali to you and Family.
You might recall my saying on 24th July at CO, that we pensioners are not given our due and we only get good treatment when we go over, but nothing more.
As I said, even minor matters which lie with CO are not done.
The 92-93 Retirees are paying with their life, waiting for a fair deal from LIC!      Why no decision on this so far?
Some other points like Pension on 1st, Family Pension (full) up to age 67,  Cash Medical Allowance of some amount in lieu of Domiciliary treatment, Review of Defective implementation of DHC order on arrears for pre-97 retirees etc., still remain to be touched.
I know, and you well know, that we are a spent force, and can't pose any perception of threat, of any sort for you, at CO.  But there's something called justice and fair play, to the seniors. Can we expect a symbolic movement on any of these matters? Sorry if I have caused you a moment of awkwardness by raising these.
Just have in mind that paths of glory lead but to Retirement. Now you are in a position to do something. Please see. Thanks for this indulgence of your VIP time.
Regards
D. Krishnan."
We will need to wait and see if anything gets moved at all. Meanwhile, Happy to Report that our President Bali , after the Brain Surgery, is now recovering well, and is able to briefly respond to short messages. He is in good spirits and that is very important for us.  He passes on his gratefulness to all friends who have stood by in Hope and Prayer for his well-being.
So Greetings all of you once again, for this Festive Season of Diwali
D.Krishnan
General Secretary

Appeal by Sridharan G.N 6:02 PM (13 minutes ago) FAITH AND PRAYER  deserve to be considered as one of the weapons to fight the virus menace. It is  not without purpose that even the Westerners believe in the old dictum - 'many things are wrought by prayers'. Gandhiji said that the tenets of Hindu religion and faith has universal application .Our ancient texts do prescribe prayers as a panacea for all human ailments. For instance in Mahabharata - vide Dwadasa nama pancharam an appendix to Vishnu Sahasranamam - a sloka in the words of Bishma pitamah runs as follows: "Achyutha,Anantha,Govinda namocharana beshajath nasyanti sakala rohath ,Satyam satyam vadhamyaham" That is, he swears that uttering the various names of the Lord will cure a person  of  ALL his diseases. In another sloka it is said that even water from holy Ganga can be good enough a medicine (oushadam) if only we believe the Lord (sriman Narayana) as the doctor.(vaidy
