TRIBUTE TO SRI G.KRISHNAMURTHY,LIC FORMER CHAIRMAN 1)Sri G.Krishnamurthy, former LIC Chairman is no more. It is a great shock to all insurance fraternity.As the Top Management Apex Head,Chairman has a pivotal role. He is in fact a mirror to all the activities & operations of LIC in India as well as abroad.Chairman’s Messages are a catalyst breathing fresh air & thinking into the lives of entire administrative & marketing force  . His utterances send a chord to society & nation on many parameters . 2)I spoke to his eldest son,Sri K.Mohanasundaram,SBM, CB 14,Chennai. He told me last 4 months, he was not keeping well, on diagnosis, it was detected as liver cancer.When it was thought he was responding,2 nd  time pain excruciating, it has spread to back,last 1 week loss of appetite aggravated, muscle hardened & he breathed his last,fully conscious.Mobile No 094442 06388.Out of 3 sons, he is eldest, 2 nd  ia at Mumbai, last son in UK 3)Sri GK was Zonal Manager,

Yes, the passing away of GK , former Chairman of LIC, came as a sudden shock to friends like me and S.Meenakshisundaram, who worked with him in Jamshedpur, where he was MM and some of us ,his friends, Managers. Those two years brought us close to him. GK was my Guide for a Consumer Assn Project I undertook in the year 2011-12. Into his seventies by then, he looked as sharp and smart as ever in raising relevant questions in our Committee meetings. Somehow over the last period of a few months ,we have lost a few other Senior Retired Officers too -- about a month back Sri B Y Srinivasan, and earlier to that  Sri K K Sheri,  and before that Sri S N Sundaresan,all retd EDs. Incidentally all the four named, were well known to me personally. Some times I start wondering why I feel so sad at some departures,when, as charaterised by the late legal luminary, Sri Ram Jethmalani, all of us Seniors, are like passengers waiting in the Departure lounge of God's Airport! I t is with a deep sense of regret that I have to report the passing away last night (21/10)of Shri G Krishnamurthy former chairman of LIC .               I am personally saddened doubly by his demise since apart from being my senior colleague in service he was almost my neighbor being a resident of the colony where I live .It was only recently that he spoke to me of some Civic problem in his area of the locality requesting me to take some action in my capacity as the President of the local welfare association Ironically when I called him up two days back he was unable to speak and and it was only yesterday I sent him a letter confirming that I had taken necessary action on his grievance!! After retirement Shri GK(as popularly known) was leading a simple life.Soft spoken and pleasant  by temperament he had endeared himself to all who were in contact with him. He was a man of sober habits and it is yet another irony that he died of Liver carcinoma.           Shri GK l
