E circular No.DK/45 29-10-2020
Friends,
Reg: Our reference to Chairman on some important matters and the officious reply from ED (per)
I have, after one month, received a response from ED (Per) to my letter dated 25-09-2020 addressed directly to the Chairman, Sri M R Kumar. I had made a seminal point there that we pensioners, as a class, are taken for granted, and even the courtesy of a response on our references have not been there. To satisfy us technically, on this major allegation from our side, a reply has been sent now under the signature of ED (Per). I am attaching the copy of the letter received from the CO, along with a copy of our letter to Sri Kumar dt 25-09-20. (This had already been sent to you as attachment to our circular DK-42 dt. 1-10-20)
Even on a cursory reading of the CO reply, you will easily see that it has been sent only with the avowed objective of creating a record, for a response sent, not sending of which happened to be the major objection from our side. The manner in which our matters referred to, have been dealt with, in a most officious if not a dismissive language, shows absolutely no application of mind on their part to the issues raised. The overall unsaid message, through such a response is, very clear.
Even the 92-93 retirees’ matter, on which, at a personal level, Sri Kumar had talked in very sympathetic terms, when I met him at Ernakulam on 27th may 2019, seems to have been retracted now, with the tone and tenor of the current letter on this point.
Yes, if we wanted finality on certain references made, like extending the Group Insurance scheme to Retirees of earlier than 2018 and the VRS optees, you now have one, in the form of an unreasoned denial.
The only positive indication comes on point (B) regarding extending the age limit for Full Pension to the Family, in cases where the retiree dies early after retirement, from Age 65 as it obtains now, to 67, consequent to Retirement age being extended from 58 to 60, ie., the 7 years of full pension being substantively retained as per earlier provision. They say a reference has been made to the Govt. on this!
This approach of the LIC Management, is certainly not a happy development and we need to bring home to them that, when we talked of the courtesy of a response, we did not mean an empty ritual being performed, of a letter being sent, which showed no application of mind, or sympathy on the practical side, to our references. The whole reply smacks of brusqueness if not an attitude of brutal neglect to Pensioners’ matters. My Best Wishes to all
D.Krishnan
