Friends,
Reg: Collections to Fight Covid 19 Pandemic
The Lock-down continues, and with it most restrictions. I am not too sure where we are with regard to services being provided in Branches of Banks after the partial relaxations from the 20th of April. In spite of difficult situation around transfer of funds, a number of  our Associations have been reporting very encouraging levels of collections towards the PM CARES Fund. This shows the keenness and sincerity of our members to reach out to a very worthy national cause. This is very admirable indeed.
Among Associations who have reported fair collections are Kolkata Bengaluru, Chennai, Ernakulam, Trivandrum, and Kottayam. I feel, we could continue collections for a few more days since the restrictions in public sphere continue, and transfer of  funds from such collections to the Federation Account, and from there to the PM CARES Fund A/c  would also not be that swift or easy as of now. We could go on , say, up to the end of April, and then take stock again. Our Treasurer Sri Dalal had expressed difficulty earlier, about going to Bank, to carry out any kind of transactions, in Mumbai. It is primarily this reason why I thought we could extend our collection period until we feel it will be possible to go to Bank and effect Transfer of collected Funds to the designated Account in Delhi.
I must particularly acknowledge here the efforts undertaken by the Associations referred herein contacting members through phone calls and repeat reminders, at a point in time when everything is at a stand-still. It also speaks high of our members, who in spite of difficulties in making the remittance, have taken the trouble to respond to this call from the Associations. I am saying this because, I am aware that not many in our memberships may have the facility of Net-Banking, which alone makes it easy and speedy to make payments. The Association Leaderships and their worthy members deserve kudos for this selfless   act , at a time when the easier option would have been to quote reasons and keep quiet.
Thanks a lot then....
May the efforts continue.
With Greetings
D. Krishnan.

Appeal by Sridharan G.N 6:02 PM (13 minutes ago) FAITH AND PRAYER  deserve to be considered as one of the weapons to fight the virus menace. It is  not without purpose that even the Westerners believe in the old dictum - 'many things are wrought by prayers'. Gandhiji said that the tenets of Hindu religion and faith has universal application .Our ancient texts do prescribe prayers as a panacea for all human ailments. For instance in Mahabharata - vide Dwadasa nama pancharam an appendix to Vishnu Sahasranamam - a sloka in the words of Bishma pitamah runs as follows: "Achyutha,Anantha,Govinda namocharana beshajath nasyanti sakala rohath ,Satyam satyam vadhamyaham" That is, he swears that uttering the various names of the Lord will cure a person  of  ALL his diseases. In another sloka it is said that even water from holy Ganga can be good enough a medicine (oushadam) if only we believe the Lord (sriman Narayana) as the doctor.(vaidy
