Friends,

Collections for PM's CARES Fund ... Some change in suggestions
on modalities...
I
do hope all of you and Family are safe, and doing well
health-wise. I had sent in Circular DK -16 , wherein I had
mentioned different possible ways of collecting money from
Members and sending it to the PM CARES Fund for the fight
against the COVID-19 Virus.
Many
of our Associations have done some initial collections from
members even under these difficult circumstances. They are only
raising doubts as to whether it would not be better to send one
consolidated amount in the name of the Federation, instead of
at different Association levels. We in fact thought of sending
an amount from the side of the Federation initially and then
redeem the amount gradually from the Collections transferred to
Federation from Associations, later on.
I
did talk to our Treasurer Sri Dalal today. He says he does not
have a Net Banking Account to send money to the PM CARES Fund.
If one has to go over to the Bank, there are enough logistical
issues of movement, staff in Bank etc. He told me that in
Mumbai the surveillance is strict and going out will be
questioned. Even if he ventured out now, he says Banks are
running without staff, though technically they remain open. So
sending an advance Amount from federation Account is also
proving difficult.
Sri
Dalal suggested that we request our Associations to collect
from members in whatever way possible, and if practicable, even
try and transfer such collections to the Federation Account.
Members of Associations could reach the remittances to their
respective Associations in this behalf, latest by
15th of
April, to the respective Association Accounts. Once
the embargo is lifted, say, by the 15th of
April, the Federation could then make one Payment to the PM's
Fund after consolidating the amounts received from the Units.
So,
those of the Associations who have made collections could
retain it, till middle of April, and then transfer to the
Federation Account, giving proper reference, as to what Account
the money is being remitted against, for correct identification
at the receiving end. It is gathered from many of our
Associations that they prefer one single remittance under the
name of the Federation, instead of individual Associations.
Hence this suggestion.
Sri
Dalal also mentioned to me that he had requested the
Associations, remitting the Yearly membership subscriptions to
the Federation, should do so in advance of the financial
year-end
to enable accounting of such amounts within the
Financial year itself. He said that Associations, Bareily
(3 years) Coimbatore, Odisha, Trissur and Silchar are yet to
send their yearly subscription amounts. These
Associations may kindly make note of this and if they had not
remitted the amounts already may remit them now.
Pension
this time, was duly advised to Banks on the 1st of April, but
the Credit into the Account by Banks was done only on the 2nd
of April. This was mainly due to the Bank Yearly Closing of
Accounts on the 1st of April. Our advance initiatives in this
behalf did bring in some result.
The
Mysuru Association in Karnataka, has started to function
independently from this year (2020-21) onwards. I attended
their General Body Meeting held in difficult circumstances, at
Mysuru, on the 17th of March. So far, though their name
did exist on our list of Associations, they did not have an
independent existence in terms of their own Accounts and
Operations, and were dependent on Bengaluru Association for
guidance on all matters. I should record my sense of
appreciation to the Leadership of the Bengaluru Assn., which
worked sincerely at handing over the Mysuru affairs, to a
Team of local leaders elected at Mysuru itself.
With
Best Wishes

Appeal by Sridharan G.N 6:02 PM (13 minutes ago) FAITH AND PRAYER deserve to be considered as one of the weapons to fight the virus menace. It is not without purpose that even the Westerners believe in the old dictum - 'many things are wrought by prayers'. Gandhiji said that the tenets of Hindu religion and faith has universal application .Our ancient texts do prescribe prayers as a panacea for all human ailments. For instance in Mahabharata - vide Dwadasa nama pancharam an appendix to Vishnu Sahasranamam - a sloka in the words of Bishma pitamah runs as follows: "Achyutha,Anantha,Govinda namocharana beshajath nasyanti sakala rohath ,Satyam satyam vadhamyaham" That is, he swears that uttering the various names of the Lord will cure a person of ALL his diseases. In another sloka it is said that even water from holy Ganga can be good enough a medicine (oushadam) if only we believe the Lord (sriman Narayana) as the doctor.(vaid...
