Dear friends,

 

The day 19-01-2022, dawned with the shocking news of the passing away of one of our senior members and  a great internationally acclaimed actuary  Shri R.Ramakrishnan, (Chief Actuary LIC) at the age of 86 (DOB 24-10-1935). I met him last November, on a rainy day,  at his residence to hand over a copy of the Pensioners’ Guide Published by Shri G.N.Sridharan, since some days  earlier he sent a message to me that he needed a copy of the Guide.  He was not able to move from his chair.  However, immediately on getting the book he started going through the same and  acknowledged from where he sat, by waving his hand.  His articles he published in his blog   JayaVijaya (J and V capitals)  Blog Id   ramvijay3539.blogspot.in  were of great interest. In his passing away the Insurance Industry has lost a doyen of the Industry.

MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT SHRI K.SRIDHAR.

 

With heavy heart I have to inform all of you a sad news about passing away of Shri R. Ramakrishnan  CHIEF  ACTUARY   today at Apollo hospital  .Chennai 

 

I know  Shri Ramakrishnan  since 1970 when I was posted as AAO at Central office. We were colony mates and he and his wife were very popular couple in Jeevan Shanthi quarters, Bombay 

 

As a person there  could be very few people who can match him  in intelligence , humane approach and down to the earth practical.

 

He was a dedicated officer of LIC and as an actuary his contribution  to actuarial fraternity is immense .A number of LIC  colleagues who pursued  actuarial science owe lot to him.

 

We are going to miss a great doyen of insurance  industry

MESSAGE FROM OUR VETERAN LEADER SHRI G.N.S., FORMER G.S. OF FEDERATION AND OUR FORMER  PRESIDENT.

The passing away today (19/1/22) of Shri R Ramakrishnan ,former chief Actuary of LIC removes from our midst a thorough gentleman with an extraordinary professional skill. As the Gen.secy  of the Retired officers' federation I used to seek his advice whenever LIC raised the cost issue for granting any benefit to the pensioners. He was always unbiased in giving his views and it helped me a lot in suitably briefing the counsels handling our court cases. He was indeed a friend, philosopher and guide to me personally.

My sincere prayers for his soul to rest in peace.-Om Shanti
