Dear Friends,
REG: LIC DAY GREETINGS, LETTERS TO C.O. ON GIS & UP-GRADATION OF PENSION
It gives me great pleasure in Greeting all of you , my retired colleagues, on this day the 1st of September which is the LIC Day , and observed widely as Insurance Week in the yester-years. We form, perhaps a rather rare group of people, by standards today, who joined LIC and exited from LIC at the age of superannuation. The current generations change employments at frequent intervals carrying only loyalty to themselves! We thought LIC was ours, and well after retirement, we still have the heart to write to the Finance Minister regarding the Govt. decision to sell off a bit of the ownership of the Organization. We still gloat over the achievements of LIC, its yearly numbers of Business, and the Actuarial surplus, which is Profit in general terms, and its Claims settlement record. Even if we have come out of LIC , LIC has not gone out of us. So, it’s a great Day to be celebrated by all of us.
Meanwhile, we have again addressed two communications to the CO, one to the ED (P) regarding the Circular of CO dt. 20th August 20, on GIS, including the Retirees up to Age 75, but not inclusive enough, announcing enhancement of life cover at different age ranges, and the other, an important one to the Chairman LIC, from the Joint Group of Pensioner Associations, dt. 31-08-20 urging on the Management to play its legitimate role, by Recommending to the Govt. the need for Pension up-gradation. Both letter copies are here for you to go through.
COVID 19 had stayed away from the LIC community for quite some time, but of late some of us, have fallen victims to its deadly tentacles. We had already shared with you the terrible loss of our former Chairman Sri K P Narasimhan due to the virus infection. Dr Pritam Singh Pritam, a Direct Recruit Officer of the 3rd Batch succumbed to the infection in Jullundur just the other day. Sri Kargeswar Kalita , former Secretary of our Guwahati Assn. became the victim of this dreaded infection on the 28th of August and I have conveyed, on your behalf, to the Association our heartfelt condolences. All of us in our senior age group, have to take particular care to stay safe and clear of this risk, of getting infected from this terrible virus.
Incidentally, the remittances into the PMCARES Fund, {Rs. 7,13,500 received from the various Associations}, and an amount of Rs.25000 from the Delhi Association to the West Bengal Cyclone Fund have both been made by Sri Dalal and Sri Pathak, braving out, in spite of the Risk involved in moving out in Mumbai. We thank them heartily for this.
Wishing all of you a very safe, peaceful, and Happy LIC Day!
D.Krishnan
General Secretary
