I served under him in Thiruvallur. An efficient, soft spoken and understanding boss. Many may not know he is related to Namakkal Kavingnar.

It is once again a sad news for all of us.
Shri P Ramanathan passed away suddenly this afternoon (3 45 PM- 10/2/2020)
Reports reaching me reveal that he was taken to VHS hospital for an operation for Hernia but he had developed breathing problem.Tests on him reportedly found him suffering from tumor of lungs and was advised to be taken to Apollo Hospital for treatment but he unfortunately expired before any treatment could be given.
A very knowledgeable person who always excelled in projecting the glorious traditions of Kerala, shri Ramanathan was an officer of quiet efficiency in LIC.After retirement he was vociferous in espousing the causes of pensioners.
People like me know very well that he was single handedly fighting for the inclusion of dental treatment in the medical scheme in the normal course without linking to accidents only.
To me personally it is a great loss as he was one who who always appreciated and encouraged me in all my actions on behalf of the federation. It is difficult to reconcile that i will no longer receive his mails almost on a daily basis forwarding something or the other on maters of common interest.
Shri Ramanathan leaves behind his wife (who was also with the Zonal office Chennai ) and two daughters. Our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
May his soul rest in Peace!!
