Ecircular No.DK/11 27-01-2018
Friends, I thought some communication was due from our side.
Here it goes:
1. As already reported, the next Hearing in the S C had been
listed for 15th of May 2018, in the computer
generated list of dates. We had also mentioned that this may not be the final
word on this matter as the computer generated lists can undergo changes, and
that it can be slotted for an earlier date. Now it is
understood that the fresh Computer list indicates 5th of March as the next Date!
I must leave this matter to be examined by our Chairman Legal committee who
knows better on matters relating to the Courts.
2. In our New-Year eve Ecircular (DK/5 dt. 31-12-2017) we had given
indications of possibilities of certain Groups who had left us, to merge back
with us, & that it might happen in the year 2018. We are
still on with our preliminary spade-work on this and we do feel quite positive
about outcomes, given the will and technical feasibilities on both sides.
3. There has been widespread concern amongst our members
regarding the time delay in the progress of our legal matters particularly
those who are in the senior age group. This had led many amongst us to raise
the question about the possibility of getting LIC to pay the balance of Arrears
of the Pre-97 group as per the Delhi H C Orders, which has not been stayed, and
whose 9 month limit for payment is
nearing completion, if not already completed. The anxiety of these members is
perfectly understandable, even in the context of the Federation’s stand in the
SLP that the DHC judgment be stayed and our Prayers for up-gradation be
re-examined by the S C. Without
prejudice to our stand in the SLP on the Delhi HC judgment, we have taken up
this matter with the authorities in LIC and we do expect that they will look at
this aspect in a humane way, and move towards making the payment of Arrears
before long. (As I was on this, I understand from the ED (P), that the Programme for running the payments
is ready and they are only awaiting the Government’s approval since they are
also a party in this litigation.)
4. The option- date extension for Family Floater Cover up to
13th Jan 2018, by LIC, after we took it up with them, was a very positive
response to our request to them. We appreciate their quick response in this
matter. We do hope those amongst us that intended to take the opportunity to
increase their Family Floater Cover did so within the additional time given.
We'll come back with more as and when it needs to be done. With hearty Greetings
to all.
