MASI SHRI S.MASILAMANI IS NO MORE. G N SRIDHARAN CONDOLES .

It is with a deep sense of sorrow that I learnt just now about the demise of Shri S Masilamani at the Kilpauk Hospital chennai this afternoon (17/2).He was 88. Shri 'Masi' as he was popularly known to every one in LIC was more than a mere friend or a former colleague to me. He was my partner in the law firm of 'Sridhar&Masi' and we were practicing together as advocates in the High court of Madras for nearly three decades after our retirement from LIC. A person of varied interests in the fields of Law, Sports and public affairs,he was a voracious reader. Being a bachelor ,books were his only companions in his life.He was a rationalist in thoughts and I an absolute believer but nothing could come in the way of a genuine friendship between us which bound us both while in service and in retirement. A person of impeccable character he was an eminent 'sports administrator' in LIC having successfully conducted several athletic meets annually at several pl

Dear Friends, The Leadership of LIC has virtually passed on to a new Guard, and obviously, it is bound to bring with it, changes in perceptions and Attitudes too. I have, at my individual level, sent my letter of Greetings to  Sri M R Kumar who is the new Chairman, Sri T C Suseel Kumar, new MD, and Sri Vipin Anand, another of the two new MDs. I honestly hope this is a change which carries positive portends for all of us Pensioners. You might be aware that LIC Management had invited the Various Associations representing the Employees, for what they termed as 'Information Sharing Session', on the `11th and 12th of March. The management offered 10% increase across the board, which was promptly rejected by the Employee Associations, saying, it will have to be commensurate with the growth and surplus registered by the LIC and  an independent, stand-alone offer at a percentage level was not acceptable. I also had a fairly lengthy tal
