Friends,                                                                                                                          01-09-2022

Greetings to all LICians on this 66th Anniversry  of our life and breadth “LIC”.   We are proud and continue to be proud of our mammoth organisation.

EXISTENCE CERTIFICATE: In our last circular dt.2-08-2022 we had reminded all our friends regarding submission of Existence certificate. But today we had a call from some of our members about the last date of EC.   E wish to inform all to immediately submit the Certificate if not done already. About two or three friends expressed their inability to submit the certificate as there are no one to help them. For the two who are in Chennai we were able to help them. However for out station members we have asked them to contact the respective pension disbursing offices and tell them the circumstances in which they are placed. We have also requested the OS Pension cell to help them in the possible way. Even after this if any one had not submitted that is  unable to submit due to reasons beyond their control, please contact me Phone No. 9840932943.

SLP (CIVIL) NO. 21206 OF 2017 – OUR FEDERATION VS  LIC OF INDIA & UOI – (UP-GRADATION PENSION) Our court case for up-gradation of pension was to come today, after the postponement from 3-08-2022.  However as our ill luck would have it despite our protests the same is postponed to some other date  to be announced later, perhaps in October/November, testing our patience.

We remind ourselves that THE HARDEST TESTS IN LIFE IS THE PATIENCE TO WAIT FOR THE RIGHT MOMENT EVEN IF WE ARE ANNOYED  SO MUCH THAT IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO STAY CALM”

ACTIVITIES AT THE FEDERATION LEVEL:  The  team at the realm of affairs of the Federation had given a call to all the affiliated units to meet the MPs of their respective areas and present a six page memorandum to them requesting them to forward the same to the Finance Minister with their recommendations. Accordingly most of the affiliated units have met the MPs- some even the Central Ministers-  and had the memorandum forwarded to the FM.  From Our unit we met two MPs Shri Kalanidhi Veerasami and Dr.A.Chellakumar and both have forwarded the memorandum to FM.  We had also sent the memorandum by post to five more MPs with the same request.   In all we understand that so far recommendations from nearly 40 MPs have gone to the FM.  This is a new approach and we hope that this may produce favourable response from the FM.

We also understand that a note dt. 1-08-2022 from Shri Vinodkumar, under-secretary, from the Ministry of Finance, Dept. of Financial Services had been sent to the Chairperson LIC quoting a representation from Life & General Insurance pensioners’ Welfare Trust,  regarding simultaneous revision of pension along with Revision of Salary, requesting LIC to provide their comments at the earliest.   Our former General Secretary Shri D.Krishnan, in a personal message to ED –Personnel Shri Dubey, had requested him to send an early reply giving some points of reference.  The Note and the Letter from Shri DK are enclosed as attachment.

With greetings

SECRETARY

Appeal by Sridharan G.N 6:02 PM (13 minutes ago) FAITH AND PRAYER  deserve to be considered as one of the weapons to fight the virus menace. It is  not without purpose that even the Westerners believe in the old dictum - 'many things are wrought by prayers'. Gandhiji said that the tenets of Hindu religion and faith has universal application .Our ancient texts do prescribe prayers as a panacea for all human ailments. For instance in Mahabharata - vide Dwadasa nama pancharam an appendix to Vishnu Sahasranamam - a sloka in the words of Bishma pitamah runs as follows: "Achyutha,Anantha,Govinda namocharana beshajath nasyanti sakala rohath ,Satyam satyam vadhamyaham" That is, he swears that uttering the various names of the Lord will cure a person  of  ALL his diseases. In another sloka it is said that even water from holy Ganga can be good enough a medicine (oushadam) if only we believe the Lord (sriman Narayana) as the doctor.(vaidy
