Dear Friends,
Reg: Our Expected SC Hearing for today ...
We in Chennai are going through some torrid times, with Heavy rains inundating many parts of the city. Even so I am duty-bound to inform you that our Hearing in the Supreme Court, which was scheduled for the 9th of Nov, 2021, is NOT coming up today, as we expected, because the Cause-list for the day did not include our SLPs.
The PSU Bank Retirees too had gone to Court with an SLP (Note on their case being reproduced here as attachment), but asked the SC to defer the Hearing due to indications that the Govt. is considering their main Demand of Revision of Pension in some form of their own. Some representative Bodies of Pensioners of LIC too were expressing their views as to what we should be doing, since the Govt. in our case too is believed reliably, to be considering some changes on lines we have been asking. Our clear view on this is that we shall go ahead with our SLPs in the SC so long as we are not in with any offer of Revision from the side of the Central Govt.
Let me reproduce the views of Shri Agnihotri of AIRIEF here for your benefit
Dear Sirs,
We are pursuing our grievances with LIC/UOI and had meetings with LIC managements as well as authorities of the Finance Ministry with regular follow up. The judicial recourse was adopted because of silence and impasse on the part of UOI for a long period. Now FM has shown intention to resolve some of the main grievances including Pension Revision, it would be appropriate to keep the dialogue on and present our stand strongly to the FM to get a judicious decision on our issues. I agree with Shri Krishnan Sahab's opinion that we need not withdraw our SLPs. If the issue of Pension Revision is considered by the Ministry of Finance judiciously, the court cases will be disposed off with mutual consensus. In the case of PSU Bank pensioners also the court case on Pension Revision is very much pending in the SC. I attach herewith a note on the PSU Banks Pensioners Case in the SC just for your information. With kind regards, M P Agnihotri.
The Note on the Case in SC of the Bank Pensioners is also Attached here .
So with my greetings to all of you till next time.
D.Krishnan
