PERFECT THE POWER OF MEDITATION BY RECITING GAYATHRI MANTHRA....HERE sings HARIHARAN. LET US MEDITATE WITH HIM.

The Power of Gayatri: The practice of meditation has occurred worldwide since ancient times. The Hindus perfected the art of sacred chanting that dates back at least 3,000 years and is probably the world's oldest continuous vocal tradition. Of all the sacred "Mantras", there is none considered more exalted than the Gayatri. A prayer for spiritual and meditative stimulation, it is addressed to the divine life-giver as supreme God, symbolised in the Sun. The Gayatri is thus not only the symbol of light but light itself. A "mantra" signifies the sacred formula or verse, the incantation of which leads to spiritual liberation and enrichment of daily life. According to Hindu tradition, the world has come into existence through the union of Mind "(manas)" with word "Vac." The "mantra" therefore has not only sound and meaning, but also energy. To acquire this energy of the Word, one has to grasp the message as well as the vibrations of the "mantra". Properly chanted, it leads one to the harmony and peace that result when forces of the Divine, the Human and the Cosmic lock embrace. In The Power of Gayatri, well versed in the nuances of Indian classical raags, some of the most popular and sought after singers weave their own magic to uplift and entrance the listener to a higher state of being. Based on raag Bhopali, this light and lilting Gayatri mantra music is rendered in the evergreen, mellifluous voices of Hariharan, Anup Jalota, Shankar Mahadevan, Devaki Pandit and Sadhana Sargam to caress your inner senses. It is  not without purpose that even the Westerners believe in the old dictum - 'many things are wrought by prayers'. Gandhiji said that the tenets of Hindu religion and faith has universal application .Our ancient texts do prescribe prayers as a panacea for all human ailments. For instance in Mahabharata - vide Dwadasa nama pancharam an appendix to Vishnu Sahasranamam - a sloka in the words of Bishma pitamah runs as follows: "Achyutha,Anantha,Govinda namocharana beshajath nasyanti sakala rohath ,Satyam satyam vadhamyaham" That is, he swears that uttering the various names of the Lord will cure a person  of  ALL his diseases. In another sloka it is said that even water from holy Ganga can be good enough a medicine (oushadam) if only we believe the Lord (sriman Narayana) as the doctor.(vaidy
