Brahmothsavam From 20-Feb-18 to 01-Mar-18

By the grace of Ambal Brahannayaki samedha Lord Brahadeeswara, benign blessings of His Holiness Maha Periyava, Sri Matam Periyavas, the Maha Kumbhabhishekam of the Gangai Konda Chozhapuram Ambal Brahannayaki  Sameda Lord Brahadeeswara temple was performed strictly as per Aagama sastras, a year back on  2nd February 2017, nearly after a period of 85 years.  All  bhakthas spread over all different  continents, Sri Kanchi Matam devotees along with local people and elites joined to perform the Maha Kumbhabhishekam.

Every one of us know that Annabhishekam , initiated and instructed by H H Mahaperiava  is performed year after year uninterruptedly from 1985 onwards  in this temple. Many articles covering all these were published at different times in our “Sage of Kanchi”, Kanchi Periyava forum, etc.

Dwajasthambam (Kodimaram) was erected during kumbhabhishekam in this temple nearly after 400 to 450 years . As per Aagama  sastras , it is necessary that Brahmotsavam is to be performed every year for 10 to 12 days to such temples.

Recently Rajatha bhandanam (adoring Peetam of Swamy and Ambal) was  also done to Swamy and Ambal  with approximately 16 kgs of silver before Sammasrabhishekam  was performed. Sammasrabhishekam is to be performed every year for 12 years after which next Maha Kumbhabhishekam is to to be done.

The Brahmotsavam starts with grama (village) Devatha pujas for two days on 18 th and 19 th  February’18,  followed by 10 days Brahmotsavam, Swamy, Ambal and other deities Nagarvalam, on different Vahanas, etc. as per Aagama sastras completed with final day  Thirthavari utsavam.

As of date there is no record to show that  Brahmotsavam  was conducted to this temple, which probably were there centuries ago. Being  such a BIG TEMPLE , dear to the heart of H H Mahaswamy, we are blessed to start as an Angam of dwajas, 10 days brahmothsavam  starting from 20/2/18 with KODIYETRAM  and ending with Theerthavari on 01 st March ‘18.

Annabhishekam committee  and other Sri Kanchi Matam devotee groups also participate with first day and many days  utsavams along with other bhakthas  from different places.
