Friends, With deep regret I  have to report  the passing away of Shri AV Ramani in the early hours of Feb 16 2018, at Coimbatore               Though  Shri Ramani was ailing for the past one year he chose to  attend our GC meeting at Mumbai on  8th Dec.2017. From inception he  associated himself with our Federation. He was the President of the Coimbatore unit. His pleasing manners won him lot of friends and admirers.It is a great loss for our organisation. We pay our respectful homage to the dear departed and convey our condolences to his family   . I am extremely sorry to report  the passing away this early morning (16/2)of Shri AV Ramani at Coimbatore               Shri Ramani was ailing for the last one year and inspite of his poor health he even attended our GC meeting at Mumbai on 8th Dec. He was associated with the retired officers' federation from inception and was the President of the Coimbatore unit for the last six years.An extremely pleasant and jovial person he would instantly get endeared to any person coming into contact with him  His demise is an irreparable loss not only to his family but the entire officers'comunity in LIC with whom he was very popular.         Our deepest condolences to his family- his wife and two daughters.     . OBITUARY

We report with deep regret the sad demise of Shri.G Gopalakrishnan (M no 325) yesterday the 5th feb.Shri GG belonged to a family which was wholly dedicated to LIC.His wife who predeceased him about a few years back and his father Late Shri Ganapathy  Iyer (who retired as Supdt)were employees of the corporation. His brother also was with LIC and is now a retd.IPS officer. Shri Gopalakrishnan who had three masters Degrees to his credit was a devoted member of our Association and we will now miss him very much.  May his soul rest in peace. --GN Sridharan  President Retd.LIC class 1 officers'Assn.Chennai

I would like to share with the highly expectant LIC pensioners' fraternity a very significant decision of the IBA/Govt to honour a court verdict conferring an important benefit to a small section of Bank pensioners very recently. Two of my own reasonings weighed with me to indulge in such a sharing. 1) The decision indicates that the Govt which has been fighting litigations by pensioners of funded schemes tooth and nail is possibly mellowing down.It is good for us-- though many of us do not seem to realise - that whatever happens to the retirees in banking sector will only benefit us automatically in the long run in view of the ''insurance & banking ''clubbing POLICY of the govt.2)The court decision in the case demonstrates that mere harping on the pension rules may not always help the management in denying justified benefits to the pensioners.The story runs as follows.  Some of the nationalised Banks were following the practice of directly recr...
