Some new features in Mediclaim  cover Central office has issued a circular yesterday (23/9) introducing the following features effective from  1/4/2018  i e, the date of commencement of the renewal of group mediclaim policy for next year. 1 Increased floater cover will be allowed for Rs 40 & 50 Lakhs.(The option for this will have to be exercised before  30/11/2017 .) 2. children will also be covered -- sons & unmarried daughters aged 25 or less included.  3. Room rent increased to Rs 8500 applicable for pensioners opting for enhanced cover of Rs.40& 50 lakhs only. 4 . Revised premium table furnished. Dear Friends, Greetings from the Retired LIC Class I Officers’ Association  Chennai.        - ---News from Federation--- We are informed that the SLP (C)  21206/2017 filed by the Federation in the Supreme court against the Delhi HC judgement on the twin issues of DR anomaly and up gradation of pension is posted for hearing on  13/10/2017  as per advance list.   As regards the issue concerning 92-93 retirees,  steps  are being taken to get ourselves impleaded  in the pending Writ Petition  in Kerala HC filed by individuals.  Besides,  expert Legal opinion is also being sought on directly approaching the Supreme court and     seek implementation of orders in M C Jain's case to all similarly placed pensioners.   Final action     will therefore be taken on this matter before the end of this month.             ...

TODAY IS TEACHERS' DAY HEARTY GREETINGS TO ALL TEACHERS,  ERSTWHILE TEACHERS (NOW PENSIONERS) WHO SERVED IN ALL OUR  LEARNING SCHOOLS OF EXCELLENCE.  IN ONE OF THOSE SHINY DAYS, AS WE SAT TO LISTEN TO OUR CHIEF GUEST OF THE DAY (IF I REMEMBER RIGHT, IT WAS KUMAR DE ) THE TEACHERS' DAY DE  STARTED WITH A THUNDER "WHAT DO YOU DO HERE ?" TUMBLED, JETTISONED, AND FLOORED A FEW OF US MUMBLED: "WE TEACH ......." ED LOOKED UNCONVINCED.  WAITED A FEW SECONDS MORE. I SAID: " WE LEARN " I CANNOT BUT RECOLLECT THE DEVOTED SERVICES OF ONE GREAT TEACHER. IT WAS INDEED A PRIVILEGE FOR ME TO BE A CONTEMPORARY .  MY SPECIAL HEARTY GREETINGS TO  MADAM THANKOM MATHEW
