Useful Meeting at Central Office. GNS writes.

An informal but useful Meeting in CO

I was at Mumbai last week in response to the invitation extended by our Mumbai Assn for  attending their AGM on 17/6. As I had reached a day earlier our President and myself along with Sri Sawant, utilised time by visiting CO and met Senior Officers particularly in the Legal and Personnel (ER) departments. The Chairman and the concerned MD being by on a daylong meeting, we could not meet them.

From the interaction with the CO Officials, we could get the following impression.

1) LIC is probably not going to agitate against the DHC judgement .The  CO is now engaged in working
out the cost of implementing the .29 &.23 formula on DR for pre 97 retirees. On their specific query, we could not avoid mentioning that AIIPA and AIRIEF are also contemplating similar action like us by approaching the SC.

2) On   medical scheme the suggestions made by us and others including reimbursement of Domiciliary medical expenses are under consideration. We were told that it could not be effected immediately as the group policy for the current year has already been issued, and hence we can expect improvements for policy year 2018-2019.

3) Despite our legal notice the attitude on 92-93 retirees' issue appears to be negative (as we have sent notice to Govt also we have to wait for some more time.
As for cost aspect on no.1 above we, with the limited information with us, believe that LIC's monthly pension bill will go up by 4 Cr or so only, and the arrears may be around 40 Cr.

The well attended AGM of Mumbai Assn. Was held on 17/6 and details will follow in our next circular on organisational matters.

With greetings

It is  not without purpose that even the Westerners believe in the old dictum - 'many things are wrought by prayers'. Gandhiji said that the tenets of Hindu religion and faith has universal application .Our ancient texts do prescribe prayers as a panacea for all human ailments. For instance in Mahabharata - vide Dwadasa nama pancharam an appendix to Vishnu Sahasranamam - a sloka in the words of Bishma pitamah runs as follows: "Achyutha,Anantha,Govinda namocharana beshajath nasyanti sakala rohath ,Satyam satyam vadhamyaham" That is, he swears that uttering the various names of the Lord will cure a person  of  ALL his diseases. In another sloka it is said that even water from holy Ganga can be good enough a medicine (oushadam) if only we believe the Lord (sriman Narayana) as the doctor.(vaid...
