Dear Friends, Greetings from the Retired LIC Class I Officers’ Association  Chennai.        - ---News from Federation--- We are informed that the SLP (C)  21206/2017 filed by the Federation in the Supreme court against the Delhi HC judgement on the twin issues of DR anomaly and up gradation of pension is posted for hearing on  13/10/2017  as per advance list.   As regards the issue concerning 92-93 retirees,  steps  are being taken to get ourselves impleaded  in the pending Writ Petition  in Kerala HC filed by individuals.  Besides,  expert Legal opinion is also being sought on directly approaching the Supreme court and     seek implementation of orders in M C Jain's case to all similarly placed pensioners.   Final action     will therefore be taken on this matter before the end of this month.                           We had sent two appeals so far to our members regarding the contribution for the legal expenses,                                incurred and to

TODAY IS TEACHERS' DAY HEARTY GREETINGS TO ALL TEACHERS,  ERSTWHILE TEACHERS (NOW PENSIONERS) WHO SERVED IN ALL OUR  LEARNING SCHOOLS OF EXCELLENCE.  IN ONE OF THOSE SHINY DAYS, AS WE SAT TO LISTEN TO OUR CHIEF GUEST OF THE DAY (IF I REMEMBER RIGHT, IT WAS KUMAR DE ) THE TEACHERS' DAY DE  STARTED WITH A THUNDER "WHAT DO YOU DO HERE ?" TUMBLED, JETTISONED, AND FLOORED A FEW OF US MUMBLED: "WE TEACH ......." ED LOOKED UNCONVINCED.  WAITED A FEW SECONDS MORE. I SAID: " WE LEARN " I CANNOT BUT RECOLLECT THE DEVOTED SERVICES OF ONE GREAT TEACHER. IT WAS INDEED A PRIVILEGE FOR ME TO BE A CONTEMPORARY .  MY SPECIAL HEARTY GREETINGS TO  MADAM THANKOM MATHEW

Hearing of our SLP No. 21206/2017 Our case came up today as scheduled.   We are informed by our Counsel as well as Shri VK Jain (Legal  Committee Member at Delhi) that the court ordered ' Dasti 'on the Respondents (LIC/UOI) i.e. notice to be served by hand and ordered the same to be returnable  in four weeks . our counsel has assured that he will ensure that the notice is served immediately. Once the notice is served, the matter will be listed after the expiry of the stipulated period. We can therefore assume that the next date of hearing will be in the first week of November.  Our counsels (both Shri Garg & Senior) were present and also the Sr. Counsel representing AIRIEF.  Further developments will be intimated in due course.  GN Sridharan.
