circular No.DK/8
Friends,
Reg: Our EC and GC meetings at Last …!
It’s been some time since I last came up with a Circular. One main reason is that we have not had much to report in the interim period between the last one and now.
The main purpose of this communication too is to mainly inform you that the dates for the Next General Council Meeting of the Federation along with an Executive Committee Meeting, is being finalized. Yes, the Chennai Association has very graciously agreed to host the two Meetings at Chennai on the dates 18th and 19th of June 2022. On Saturday, the 18th of June 2022, the EC meeting will be held in the evening, and the following day, Sunday the 19th of June 2022, the General Council Meeting will be held for the whole day.
All the Executive Committee members, the Office Bearers of the Federation – the President, Vice-Presidents, and the Joint Secretaries – and Special Invitees will be required to attend both the Meetings. This apart, each Association is entitled to sponsor general members for the General Council Meeting, in the ratio of one member for every 50 members on the List of Membership of the Associations concerned, as at 31-03-2021. It would therefore be of advantage to conduct the EC meetings of every Association at the earliest so that they could decide on the members to be chosen for making it to Chennai for the GC Meeting.
It would be of great help to the host Association, Chennai, if the numbers of people going over and their names are informed to the Secretary, Chennai Association, Sri V R Krishnan, well in advance to enable booking of Rooms, and keeping a record of the members’ Arrival and Departure mode, and date and Time. The Chennai Association will be addressing a separate communication in this regard giving out all details of the actual venue, the Route Map, the contact numbers of the Chennai Reception Committee, contact numbers at the venue being fixed, and the other arrangements being made.
While the cost of the two Meetings of the Federation being arranged by the Chennai Association will be met by the Federation, all the travel related expenses of the members attending, will be borne by the respective Associations concerned. The travel costs of the President and the General Secretary of the Federation, however, will be borne by the Federation. The stay and Food Expenses of all members attending, will be borne by the Federation.
The federation is also expected to issue a Formal Notice sufficiently in advance as required under the Bye-Laws of the Federation.
The expected timings of Arrival will be from 12 noon on the 18th Saturday, and the Departure will be enabled by the morning of 20th June 2022 by noon, after lunch.
Members will be aware that one Association, amongst the 4 in the close group of Petitioners in the Supreme Court, made a ‘Mention’ in the SC recently, regarding the need for early Hearing of our Case, and consequently the SC has ordered for date to be fixed for the Hearing of all related Petitions soon after the Summer Vacation of the Court. It was quite disappointing that even after a ‘Mention’ the SC could only indicate a date nearly a couple of months later! The big cost for us is the numbers of lives that would go out of the records, and therefore going out of the scope, of possible benefit due to the Court Verdict! It is understood that by the time our SLPs are heard again, after the Summer Vacation of the SC, the virtual mode of functioning of the SC would have yielded place to the actual, physical mode in the Court Hall.
The Associations that have not yet remitted to the Federation the annual fee based on numbers of members on record, are requested to remit the dues at the earliest. Those Associations that have made collections from pensioners, out of the Arrears received in the Revision of wages of 2017, and have not yet remitted to the Federation, are also requested to remit the dues to the Federation in the proportion indicated earlier.
The Federation will be presenting the Audited Accounts upto the 31st March 2022 in the EC/GC meetings, and it is our earnest desire that the statement of Accounts thus prepared by the Federation, should reflect the position of all dues received.
With Sincere Good Wishes to all,
D.Krishnan.
