Reg:  Joint Meeting with Chairman LIC today
Today we had a joint meeting of some organisations of LIC Pensioners with the Chairman LIC, Our Federation was represented by Shri N P Bali, our president and the undersigned. The following from other Associations S/Shri G Krishnaswamy, Vijay Singh Sikarwar, S S Murthy, &  Ramana participated.
On the Management team were, Shri M R Kumar, Chairman, Sri Mukesh Gupta (ED P), Smt.  Khare (Addl. EDP) Smt. Aruna Seth (Secy. Pers), Shri Wanwar (Chief Per), Shriram Vaidya (Asst. Secy, Per)
I am giving very briefly, the points discussed today with Chairman, LIC and the response of the CO/Chairman to them : 
1. Ex-gratia Basic pension to be enhanced for pre-1986 retirees. 
Response was that , after recent changes the monthly amount stands enhanced from 2500 earlier to over 5000. 
2.1992-93 Retirees matter... 
Response of Chairman was that they will need to get the OK from the Govt, and they are at it already. 
3. Retirees of 80 and over for quinquennial rises... 
Response :Matter already stands recommended to Govt. 
4. Full pension eligibility for completing 20 years of service. 
Response : stands taken up with ministry. Captain  Vasudevan's case to be reviewed. 
5. Basic Pension to be 50% of last drawn pay instead of last 10 months average. 
Response: Matter is being taken up with ministry. 
6. Payment of Pension along with Salary for employees. 
Response: May need amendment to Pension Rule. They will try to make 1st of month Pension day even if it is holiday. 
7. Family Pension to be 30% in place of 15% now. 
Response: They will try though cost factor was the problem last time around. 
8. Family pension equal to Regular pension till 67 years of age. 
Response: 65 was when retirement  age was 58. They have agreed to do this. 
9. Defective implementation of DHC. 
Response: They have agreed to re-examine the matter. 
10. Pension Dept. in Divisional offices to be located on ground floor. 
Response: will do wherever possible. 
11. Discussion with Pensioner groups before finalizing Mediclaim  Policy every year. 
Response: Problems are because TPAs muddle up our rules with others. Nursing Charges are not to be added to Room rent. Each Zone has a Nodal officer in LIC and we can take up. They are open to suggestions from us for changes. 
12. Yearly Health Check for pensioners. 
Response: They will examine, though it appeared it was not likely. 
13. Cash Medical Allowance for Domiciliary treatment. 
Response: They will try, but from ED's body language looks less likely. 
14. Pensioners' Portal to be made interactive. 
Response: Since started only in June this year the enhancement will happen. The whole LIC technology platform will be modernised and thereafter, it will be made interactive and even pension payment /account keeping will be on the portal. 
15. Joint Consultative Committee for Pensioners. 
Response: Chairman said why a structure, we will be consulting hereafter on  regular basis. 
Meeting was very cordial and Chairman remained there till almost the end. More later.
