E circular No.DK/21                                         18-04-2018   (MAY BE PUBLISHED   IN THE BLOGS PLEASE) Friends,    I have just returned after a fairly detailed meeting with Sri G N Sridharan and Sri M Arunachalam  who attended the S C Hearing on the 16th at Delhi. Though substantively nothing changes from the brief information that was passed on in our communication  DK/19 , some highlights of the proceedings could be gathered and I thought these may be of interest to our members.  1.  The Hearing on 16th came up at around  12 noon , and our Federation was represented in the Court by our Advocate on Record, Sri Rajiv Garg and our Senior Counsel Sri Hansaria. 2. Sri K T S  Tulsi, the Senior Counsel for AIRIEF was also present representing his client , one of the six  Petitioners. 3. Our Senior Counsel,  made out some basic points which included:     a. Interim Relief of 40% paid to Pre-97 Retirees, over 2 years ago, had just remained as a one-time payment,

Though the Hearing did technically take place, the LIC Counsel asked for two weeks' time and therefore we are having another unavoidable delay. The message from our Legal Committee Chairman  Shri G N Sridharan from Delhi reads:   "The case came up today We were represented by Shri Garg and also the Sr. Counsel. our senior vehemently pleaded for I R and Shri KT Tulsi, senior Counsel for AIRIEF also made a similar strong plea. However the LIC Counsel insisted for some further time of at least 2 weeks. Though the court appeared to be in a mood to pass order the bench ordered that the matter may be listed on a Tuesday in the month of July so that the matter could be finally heard. E circular No.DK/18      14-04-2018 (MAY BE PUBLISHED  IN THE BLOGS PLEASE) Friends,             After my last one dt 13-4-2018, ie., just late last night, I thought I should keep you informed of what we have done on the suggestion  of LIC for an Adjournment. Here is the message from Shri G N Sridharan , our Legal Committee chairman,  which tells you  of our re-action to the adjournment move: " It has been learnt that LIC's Counsel has,  as per practice circulated a letter for adjournment on 'personal' grounds and two petitioners' counsels including OURS have declined 'NOC'. We hope counsels for other organisations will also follow suit. The SLPs are more than a year old and their conversion as regular civil Appeals cannot brook any further delay. We are in constant touch with Delhi .This is just for information for all concerned. -GNSridharan" It may be added that the UOI having been silent so long, their counsel has now approached the re

E circular dated 31st March 18 ( received on 4.4.18. ) from Gen.Secy of Federation.

Ecircular No.DK/15                                                                31-03- 2018      Friends, It is now over a quarter after our Gen. Council  Meeting at Mumbai, and I was wondering what kind of all-round Team work, rather than all actions initiated at the Gen. Secretary level, can contribute to  a better development  of this representative body for the Retired LIC Class I officers.  Towards this objective I thought I should  bring in greater involvement  of  the Office-bearers spread over the Country.  The best way of doing this, for a first step,  I thought, would be to assign direct responsibility  to  our Joint Secretaries and the Vice-Presidents in the areas of COLLECTIONS of Dues, and undertake EXPANSION plans for widening  our  base of about 18 units now, to a greater number, depending on the Density of Retiree Officers positioned in various centres.  The most critical area for our existence as a representative body happens to be our  financial strength.
