Put that glass down

Two years ago, if I remember correctly, my good friend Sri T.R.Madhava Rao sent me this story, through an email.  Today, as I read this story once again, i find  the values you  draw from the story are more relevant and significant than ever. Thanks a lot Mr.Madhava Rao. You have made your colleagues think hard. And possibly that is the only option on hand. The Glass of Water   A professor began his class by holding up a glass with some water in it. He held it up for all to see, and asked the students:  “ How much do you think this glass weighs? ” ’ 50 ml! ’….. ’ 100 ml !’ …..’ 125 ml ’, guessed the students. “ I really don’t know unless I weigh it, ” said the professor, “ but, my question is:What would happen if I held it up like this for a few minutes? "  And he stretched out his hand, holding the glass, up over his head. ‘ Nothing .’ the students said. ‘ Ok, what would happen if I held it up like this for an hour

Silence is a source of great strength.

(Courtesy: jaishreeblog.blogspot.in) *********************************************************************** Noise is so much a part of our life that we have become dependant on it.  We are driven to distraction by almost everything.  We are constantly asked to give up silence in exchange for constant chatter- background music or talking, traffic noises, social media pinging our phones and who feel uncomfortable or scared when they have to confront real silence. To find peace, everyone says go into silence. “Silence is a source of great strength.” ~Lao Tzu Guru Dhakshinamurthy KNOWLEDGE THRO' SILENCE.    In this communicative silence, Someone Says; Speech is silver, Silence is gold...  Silence is ever speaking; It is the perennial flow of "language."  It is interrupted by speaking; for words obstruct this mute language. Silence is permanent and benefits the whole of humanity. .  By silence, eloquence is meant. It is the best language. T

Re: Hearing in Delhi HC on 4/8/2016 We could not send out any communication for the last couple of weeks because  1) I was unavoidably busy fulfilling certain pressing personal commitments ever since returning from Delhi after the last hearing on  12/7/2016  and  2.  We were fully engaged in fixing up a suitable Sr. Counsel in the place of Shri Sriram Panchu for arguing our case in the Delhi HC. We are glad to inform that we have since made necessary arrangement and we shall certainly strive for securing maximum benefits for all sections of pensioners on the basis of prayers incorporated in our amended WP.  Our Legal committee will also be meeting a day in advance of the hearing. We assure that as usual prompt intimation will be given on what transpires at the hearing on 4th proximo.  With Greetings,   GN Sridharan,  Gen. Secy, Fed n of Retd LIC Class I Officers' Associations

The Writer of this piece is a PENSIONER. or should be a PENSIONER !

A couple of days ago, I read a sonnet on A DUSTBIN. It is written  in Tamil.   Had my friend seen it, he would have translated into English. His usual inborn innate poetical skills I see for the last four decades is amazing.  Back to Dustbin, the sonnet  indeed initiates, enthuses, and encourages one to look at things differently.  A Whack on your head. And mine too.  None can be useless.   And that 'none' should be inclusive.  (pensioners !) (A grandkid once searched for his grandpa when he could not find him anywhere in the house, inside a dustbin !) Don't dig what is beneath me ! It is all the HRD lessons I learnt from my Guru  जो ईश्वर और बड़े दयालु भी थे . At this age, accepting what we can will lead us to peace. Of course,  to move forward and to be a source of help and smile at everyone around us is God's gift.  Possibly, the dustbin promotes that lesson. My  translation in English (to be the best of my knowledge) is on the
