Co-ordination Meeting between Federation and AIRIEF on 5.10.2017

Co-ordination meeting between
Federation of Retired LIC Class I Officers’ Associations
and All India Retired Insurance Employees’ Federation
at Bangalore on 5th Oct 2017

The meeting of the representatives of the two organizations was held today. This is the 2nd one in Bengalore after the one informal meeting in Delhi in May 2017.

The discussion centred on the conduct of the ongoing SLPs in Supreme Court. It was felt that separate SLPs by Shri Asthana, Hyderabad & Panchakula being posted for different dates, nothing significant can be expected to happen at the forthcoming hearing on 13/10/2017. It was strongly advocated that our two organizations should stress on Interim Relief at the above hearing since there is bound to be a long gap before further hearing if SLPs are converted into regular Civil Appeals. It was agreed that both organizations will instruct their respective Counsels/Senior Counsels suitably in this behalf.

Shri GN Sridharan informed the line of action being contemplated on the issue of re-fixation of pension for the 92-93 retirees. Shri Rajagopalan elaborated the rationale behind the proposition viz. 1) To get impleaded in the pending WP in Kerala HC, and 2) Approaching SC directly for direction to LIC to implement the decision in MC Jain’s case for all similarly placed retirees. AIRIEF representatives were requested to furnish the list of their members falling under this category. After considerable discussion in which Shri G Krishnaswamy and Shri M Arunachalam actively provided certain facts on impacts, it was decided that the legal opinion that the Retired LIC Class I Officers’ Federation is obtaining will be shared with AIRIEF and that they will also consider joining any proceedings that may be initiated at SC. It was also agreed that the cost of will be shared.

A review of the situation will be taken up after we get a fair idea on the next hearing date on the course of the ongoing SLPs in SC.

Appeal by Sridharan G.N 6:02 PM (13 minutes ago) FAITH AND PRAYER  deserve to be considered as one of the weapons to fight the virus menace. It is  not without purpose that even the Westerners believe in the old dictum - 'many things are wrought by prayers'. Gandhiji said that the tenets of Hindu religion and faith has universal application .Our ancient texts do prescribe prayers as a panacea for all human ailments. For instance in Mahabharata - vide Dwadasa nama pancharam an appendix to Vishnu Sahasranamam - a sloka in the words of Bishma pitamah runs as follows: "Achyutha,Anantha,Govinda namocharana beshajath nasyanti sakala rohath ,Satyam satyam vadhamyaham" That is, he swears that uttering the various names of the Lord will cure a person  of  ALL his diseases. In another sloka it is said that even water from holy Ganga can be good enough a medicine (oushadam) if only we believe the Lord (sriman Narayana) as the doctor.(vaidy
